Our expertise is in civil and commercial disputes, insolvency and property matters. We are also members of the Connect to Law Scheme and are able to recommend local solicitors to assist with any matters that are not within our expertise.

We offer flexible working hours and visits to meet the needs of our clients because we recognise that it is not always possible for our clients to attend our office between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Our offices offer sufficient parking and easy access from the high street for our clients. If however it is not convenient for you to attend our offices, we are always happy to visit you at a time and place that is convenient to you. Weekend and evening visits can be arranged by appointment.
Our aim is to provide a personal and professional service that is tailored to meet the specific needs of our clients.

Staff Profiles

James Gabb – Director / Solicitor
Having qualified as a Solicitor in 2002 whilst working for Rickerbys, James went on to establish Gabb Legal Limited in 2005. An expert in both residential and commercial conveyancing as well as litigation, James has built a solid reputation from his extensive knowledge and practical approach. In his spare time James enjoys cycling, running and martial arts.

Catherine Coupe – Solicitor
Catherine studied for her Law undergraduate: LLB (Hons) Law at the University of Staffordshire, and then subsequently went on to study for her post-graduate at the Oxford Institute of Legal practice which she finished in 2007.
Catherine has worked in various aspects of the law since 2007 before coming to us in 2015 where she works on residential property Wills and Probate matters.

Sophie Jerram – Solicitor
Sophie joined J H Gabb and Co as a Trainee Solicitor in January 2022, qualifying as a Solicitor in July 2023.
Sophie specialises in civil and commercial litigation having over 6 years’ experience in all types of disputes. From simple debt recovery and possessions claims to more complex boundary, shareholder and probate disputes, Sophie has an extensive knowledge of the law to assist our clients in disputes of all sizes.
Sophie is able to assist clients in identifying their options swiftly and is committed to communicating transparent advice to ensure our clients are aware of the merits and risks of all options available. This allows our clients to make an informed decision how to proceed.
Sophie understands the stresses that can be involved in dealing with a dispute and with her aim to take away the stress of the process for our clients, Sophie is able to work towards client objectives successfully, working to achieve a resolution which clients are happy with.
In her spare time Sophie enjoys reading, playing badminton and going on dog walks.

Harry Lucas – Trainee Solicitor
Harry studied his Law undergraduate: LLB (Hons) Lawat the University of Law in Bristol. He subsequently went on to study his postgraduate: MSc. in Law, Business and Management as well as the Legal Practice Course simultaneously at the same institution.
Harry had a brief stint of legal experience working on Private Client affairs before moving to North Gloucestershire.
Harry has been at J H Gabb & Co. Solicitors for close to two years, following an offer of a Training Contract by James, and is set to qualify in March next year.

Arjun Rai – Trainee Solicitor
Arjun studied his Law undergraduate: LLB (Hons) Law at the University of Birmingham. He subsequently went on to study his postgraduate: MSc. in Law, Business and Management as well as the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law. He currently works as a trainee solicitor at Gabb Legal Limited.

Harini Subramani – Paralegal
Harini completed her integrated law degree BA LLB (Hons) at School of Law SASTRA University. She was called to the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu in 2017 as an advocate and completed her Masters in Criminal Law at University of Madras.
Harini was working in litigation and dispute resolution specializing in commercial laws & real estate, Insolvency & Bankruptcy and electricity laws specializing in clean energy.
After moving to the UK, Harini is presently qualifying as Licensed Conveyancer and working towards SQE1, whilst working in the residential property team at Gabb Legal Limited.
Katie Tweddle-Kearney – Legal Secretary
Katie studied her Law undergraduate: LLB (Hons) Law at the Open University and graduated in 2023. She is subsequently looking to start study for her Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in 2025. She has worked within the field of commercial litigation and debt recovery for 15 years and has some experience within divorce and family law.
Katie is also a business owner, utilising her existing industry experience while she endeavors to finish her journey to qualification. She is passionate about Civil and Commercial Litigation, Court of Protection Advocacy, and Contract Law.
Henry Robinson – Apprentice Chartered Manager
Henry is studying to be a Chartered Manager and has recently joined J H Gabb and Co as an Apprentice Chartered Manager.
